Downtown Revitalization

Downtown Revitalization Committee

Its focus is developing and promoting our downtown as the business, cultural and social center of Mount Holly. We have several sub-committees planning great events for this year! Come join in the terrific community spirit, meet some of your neighbors and have fun while giving Mount Holly a revitalized downtown. Some things you can be a part of:

The Arts Committee: This vibrant committee provides events that feature local artists, both professional and amateur. Contact Ruth Neely at rhneely@duke-energy.com.

Please join us for our third annual Photo Contest: “Summer in the Life of Mount Holly”. Once again it will be judged by local photography experts. The winning photos will be displayed at Mount Holly's Citizen Center. Click HERE for complete rules and to download your entry form.

Youth Art Zone: This was a great success last year with over 45 children participating. Plans are to expand this event, held during Springfest, if we can get more volunteers. Interested in offering kids a chance to try their hands at various art mediums? Contact Ruth Neely at rhneely@duke-energy.com.

Art Gallery: This is our third year hosting the Gallery, featuring the skill and diversity of our local artists. Held in early December during Mount Hollydays, it provides an opportunity to purchase the works of very talented people, while enlivening downtown.

The Facade Committee: The Foundation is generously funding this effort, which offers grants to downtown businesses to enhance the exterior of their buildings. Please contact us if you have any questions or wish to apply. Click HERE to download a copy of program guidelines and a grant application. If you know any businesses that may be interested, please send them our way. Contact Ann Danzi: ajdanzi@earthlink.net.

The Events Committee: Springfest – 5 K Run: This is the first event on Springfest morning, the first Saturday in May! Start your day out with a brisk walk or 5K supervised run. Contact Donna Ledoux at dledouxnc@bellsouth.net. This year was another great race. Please join us again next year!

Autumn on Main: This is our second annual harvest festival featuring a visual-artist marketplace, performers - including music and storytellers, the last farmer’s market of the year, and loads of fun! Mark your calendars now for Saturday, September 19! Check upcoming events on this website for more information.

The Gateway & Signage Committee Contact Bobby Black: Robertblack@bellsouth.net Enhancing the entrances into Mount Holly is this group’s goal. Plans are to add landscaping around the signs on major roadways. Interested in gardening? Have ideas on how these areas could be improved? Watch for dates in February on upcoming planning meetings.

Main Street Program To learn from the best, several Board members traveled to Statesville in January to attend the annual Main Street conference, focusing on how to develop downtown areas. Again, we brought back lots of great ideas from this organization and are excited to implement what we learned. Have other ideas? Want to be a part of YOUR community? Contact me! ajdanzi@earthlink.net
