Economic Development Committee

The business of the Foundation's Economic Development Committee (EDC) is business. Pursuing goals we set for 2008, the EDC showcases Mount Holly business, bringing business and community leaders together to discuss topics of interest to our community.

  • Maintain Monthly Small Business Breakfasts, held the 1st Tuesday of every month at City Cafe. Check the calendar of events for more information
  • Hold the 3rd Annual Economic Development Conference with Gaston Chamber – October 7, 2008
  • Enhance Economic Development component of web site and encourage a similar enhancement with City’s Web Site.
  • Support the establishment of Economic Development committee within City of Mount Holly and work with them on updating Mount Holly Marketing brochure.
  • Provide a semi-annual “State of the Economy” report to Mount Holly City Manager and Council in conjunction with City’s Economic Development committee.
  • Work on establishing a means for tracking available commercial space for lease, absorption rates, average lease rates, and availability – as part of marketing strategy.
  • Establish strong relationship with Gaston County Chamber, Economic Development Committee, and Economic Development Division
  • Support River District concept along with optional certification program - and work toward endorsements with Mount Holly City Council, Gastonia and Gaston County and communicate support for recycling.
  • Support feasibility study of Green Market Coop in conjunction with Downtown Revitalization Committee and Farmers Market
  • Establish a study committee to explore a Mount Holly Chamber
